Kremikovtzi - and after?
We took part of the annual edition of international festival Sofia Architecture Week 2012 by organizing a workshop about the steel plant Kremikovtzi, which is the biggest factory on the Balkans. The plant, built in the 1963 by the communist government, is now almost destroyed as a result of economical and political event in the past 20 years. However there is an enormous potential of future redevelopment of the whole complex.The workshop took place in the Laboratory for urban design and research in Sofia during 3 days.The program included a visit to the factory , after which teams of architects shared and discussed their vision for a future possible use of the industrial plant and area around it. The result and the projects were presented as a part of the official program of Sofia Architecture Week.
